Announcements:
 
 
  1. Blessings in a Backpack volunteers needed next week, Feb. 2nd and the following week, Feb. 9th at 10:30am North Shore School. 
  2. Decisions of the board at last week’s meeting include:
    1. Voted to fill the vacancy in the VP role with Amy Nichols.
    2. Voted to accept the membership applications for Bob Metzen, Anna Rydecki and preliminarily, Todd Heinrich pending today’s second announcement of application.  New members over the past year, you should have received an email invitation to an event for you and your sponsor from Kaileigh Eddy last week.  Please let her know which date works best for you so we can set the date and organize the event.
    3. Approved the Feb. 25th Island Sit Fundraiser for We Care as a service project – Rotary hour is 2pm – 3pm.  We need 4 – 6 volunteers for this event.  Please see the sign-up sheet circulating.
    4. Approved a grant to support the planting of a tree in honor of Paul Harris on Arbor Day.  Details to follow on date, location and timing of this event.
    5. Our scholarship fundraiser dinner is being planned for April 29th at Beeches Golf Club.  Thanks to Deb Davidson and Scott Mark for taking the lead on planning.  I hope you will plan to attend as well as plan to make a $100 donation toward our scholarship fund as part of our effort to fund scholarships to local high school seniors and to fund the South Haven Public School Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation.
  3. I have membership application for Todd Heinrich to join the Club. 
  4. We have received a thank you note from a LMC student, Jose Rojas, for the help of the Rotary Club’s endowment at the college to pay for his course books for the semester.  Thanks to Jeremy Burleson and LMC for communicating the source of these funds to students.
  5. Club business cards are on the table by the door for your use as well as Club Directory updates for new members and corrections recently made by the Brinkman’s to all member listings.
  6. It is the beginning of Awards season and Dan Thompson will provide an update on the time line for determining our award winners.
Dan Thompson the Award Committee of one would appreciate someone joining his committee to pick the upcoming award winners. Watch for Nominations for:
  • Club Hero
  • Educator of the Year
  • Rotarian of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
Dan gave a shout out to Dana Hullinger for all of the work on the Rotary Business Cards.  Thank you to everyone who participated and had input on making such a great business card!
Comedy Relief Bob Copping told us about Quasimoto Retiring and his replacement that fell to his death but his face rang a bell, and then his no armed brother who also fell to his death but his face was a dead ringer for the previous ringer.  😊
