Announcements –
We got Christmas cards from Lori’s place and the South Haven Center for the Arts.
We also received a thank you note from a student in the Hope Western Prison Education Program.
Shalom South Haven Rotary Charities. Prayerfully these quick few lines will find you all blessed and greatly favored. As for myself, I am well. As loving Supporters of the Hope-Western Prison Education Program, I want you all to know that the reason I wanted to participate in this program is a long story. However, the short version is I want to become more valuable so I can be an asset within my community, which has already begun. For instance, Dr. Bush helped me to properly express my feelings, needs and make requests through a nonviolence communication course she taught. Since then, I’ve helped many people in my community to properly express their feelings, needs and make requests.
In closing, I thank you all for supporting this program and us. Know that you all will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Have a merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. Sincerely Kenyan Rogers
Blessings is a backpack did not happen last week. School was closed on Thursday, so it was rescheduled to Friday, but school was also closed on Friday. So, no blessings in a backpack if school is closed. The next date for Rotary is January 13th, this Thursday. All of the remaining blessings in a backpack dates for this school year have been entered on our Webpage calendar.

The long view until the end of June are;
We have three opportunities to attend a Grant Management Seminar. A minimum of two members of a club need to attend in order to be eligible for grants. The dates are March 19, 9:30 am, April 11, 6:00pm, May 5, 6:00pm. These are zoom training sessions so you just sign-up and tune in and identify which club you belong to and listen.
Start thinking about grants for projects that we could submit to get matching dollars for. At least the last two years we’ve received matching grants for our scholarship program. Also Bronson education wall, the telemedicine project, splash pad, etc. The submittal deadlines for submitting grant requests in the end of April for the District 6360 Foundation Grants and the end of May for the Rotary Foundation Grants.
Our educational fundraiser is April 30th.
Start thinking about submitting recommendations for the Education and Service Award of the year, Citizen of the Year, and Rotarian of the Year. Nominations forms are available on the front page of our website. These awards are presented at the transition event/dinner that is held at the end of June. The board takes recommendations for the citizen of the year, and decides the education award based on recommendations from the scholarship committee. The Rotarian of the year is decided by a vote of the past Rotarians of the year.
We also have the ability to send student(s) to the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA). The camp is scheduled for July 8-10 at the Battle Creek Outdoor Center in Dowling, Michigan. We’ll need someone to head up this event and liaison with the high school to identify potential candidates if we want to participate.
